Jabatan Kejuruteraan Elektrik

PENGENALAN

Jabatan Kejuruteraan Elektrik, POLIMAS merupakan satu jabatan yang penting dalam menjalankan
tanggungjawabnya untuk menghasilkan modal insan negara yang berkualiti dan berdaya saing.
Graduat yang dihasilkan oleh Jabatan Kejuruteraan Elektrik, POLIMAS sering mendapat permintaan
tinggi dari sektor awam dan sektor swasta negara. Jabatan ini diterajui oleh seorang Ketua Jabatan
serta dibantu oleh Ketua Program Diploma Kejuruteraan Elektrik, Ketua Program
Diploma Kejuruteraan Elektronik (Komunikasi), 80 orang pensyarah yang dibantu oleh dua orang
Pembantu Makmal dan seorang Pembantu Am Rendah. Program-program yang ditawarkan oleh
Jabatan Kejuruteraan Elektrik adalah :

b) Diploma Kejuruteraan Elektronik (Komunikasi) – DEP

PROGRAM DIPLOMA KEJURUTERAAN ELEKTRIK (DIPLOMA IN ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING)

Diploma Kejuruteraan Elektrik merangkumi disiplin kejuruteraan elektrik dengan penekanan dalam
bidang penjanaan kuasa dan penghantaran. Program ini direkabentuk dengan ilmu-ilmu elektrik dan
elektronik yang merangkumi prinsip-prinsip elektrik dan elektronik, komputer asas dan pengaturcaraan,
peranti semikonduktor, pemasangan pendawaian, sistem kuasa dan reka bentuk terbantu komputer
yang menyediakan fleksibiliti untuk graduat. Menjelang akhir program, graduat dilengkapi dengan
kursus pengkhususan yang merangkumi Sistem Perlindungan Kuasa, AC dan DC Kawalan Motor,
Kuasa Elektronik dan Penyelenggaraan Elektrik. Selain dari pengetahuan teknikal dan kemahiran,
program ini juga memberi penekanan kepada pembangunan potensi individu pelajar secara bersepadu
dan holistik melalui kursus-kursus pengajian Islam, kajian moral, ko-kurikulum, kemahiran insaniah dan
keusahawanan.

Matlamat program
Menghasilkan graduat diploma dalam bidang kejuruteraan elektrik yang berpengetahuan, berkemahiran
teknikal, berkemahiran berkomunikasi dan bersikap sentiasa bersedia untuk menyesuaikan diri dengan
cabaran kemajuan dan teknologi yang baharu dalam bidang kejuruteraan elektrik.
Hasil Pembelajaran Program (Programme Learning Outcome)
Setelah tamat program ini, graduat seharusnya boleh;
1. Mengaplikasi pengetahuan asas matematik, sains dan kejuruteraan dalam prosedur dan amalan kejuruteraan elektrik
dan elektronik dengan baik.
2. Menunjukkan kemahiran praktikal termasuk keupayaan untuk menyelesaikan masalah, membaik pulih
dan melakukan kerja-kerja penyelenggaraan bagi peralatan elektrik dan elektronik
3. Berkomunikasi secara berkesan dengan komuniti kejuruteraan dan masyarakat amnya
4. Menggunakan pemikiran kreatif dan kritis dalam menyelesaikan masalah yang berkaitan dengan tugas yang diberikan
5. Menunjukkan kesedaran dan pertimbangan untuk masyarakat, keselamatan, kesihatan, undang-undang
dan budaya, isu-isu dan tanggungjawab yang berbangkit, dengan mengambilkira keperluan untuk pembangunan
masyarakat mampan
6. Mengiktiraf keperluan untuk pembangunan profesional dan terlibat dalam pengambilalihan bebas pengetahuan dan
kemahiran yang baharu.
7. Mengiktiraf keperluan untuk keusahawanan

Prospek Pekerjaan
Program ini menyediakan pengetahuan dan kemahiran dalam bidang kejuruteraan elektrik yang boleh
digunapakai secara meluas untuk kerjaya dalam bidang penjanaan kuasa dan industri pembuatan.
Pengetahuan dan kemahiran diperolehi graduat daripada program ini akan membolehkan mereka untuk
menyertai pasaran kerja seperti berikut: -

PROGRAM DIPLOMA KEJURUTERAAN ELEKTRONIK (KOMUNIKASI) - (DIPLOMA IN ELECTRONIC ENGINEERING (COMMUNICATION)

Diploma Kejuruteraan Elektronik (Komunikasi) merangkumi disiplin kejuruteraan elektronik yang
luas dengan penkhususan dalam teknologi perhubungan. Program ini direkabentuk dengan asas-asas
komputer dan pengaturcaraan, asas sistem komunikasi, peranti semikonduktor, pendawaian elektrik
dan rekabentuk terbantu komputer yang menyediakan graduat yang berketrampilan, disamping memberi
penekanan terhadap bidang pengkhususan di akhir program. Kursus-kursus pengkhususan yang
terlibat dalam program ini adalah telefoni, perhubungan gentian optik, komunikasi data, perhubungan
tanpa wayar dan peranti gelombang mikro. Selain dari pengetahuan teknikal dan kemahiran yang diterapkan,
program ini juga memberi penekanan kepada pembangunan potensi individu pelajar secara bersepadu dan
holistik melalui kursus-kursus pengajian Islam, kajian moral, ko-kurikulum, kemahiran insaniah dan keusahawanan.

Menghasilkan graduat diploma dalam bidang Kejuruteraan Elektronik (Komunikasi) di Politeknik,
Kementerian Pengajian Tinggi berpengetahuan, berkemahiran teknikal, berkemahiran berkomunikasi dan
bersikap sentiasa bersedia untuk menyesuaikan diri dengan cabaran kemajuan dan teknologi yang baharu
dalam bidang elektronik komunikasi.

Program ini menyediakan pengetahuan dan kemahiran dalam bidang kejuruteraan perhubungan yang

ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT

INTRODUCTION

Department of Electrical Engineering, POLIMAS is an important department in carrying out its responsibility
to produce quality and competitive human capital. Graduates produced by the Electrical Engineering
Department, POLIMAS are often in high demand by the public and private sectors of the country.

The department is headed by a Head of Department and assisted by Head of Programme for
Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Head of Programme for Diploma in Electronic Engineering (Communication)
and Head of Programme for Diploma in Electrical and Electronic Engineering (Communication). This department
also has a pool of 77 lecturers, two Laboratory Assistants, an Assistant Engineer and an Operation Assistant.

DIPLOMA IN ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING

Diploma in Electrical Engineering disciplines include electrical engineering with emphasis in the areas
of power generation and transmission. This program was designed with the knowledge of the electrical
and electronics which includes the principles of electricity and electronics, and basic computer programming,
semiconductor devices, wiring, power systems and computer aided design that provides flexibility for graduates.
By the end of the program, graduates are equipped with specialized courses covering Power Protection System,
AC and DC Motor Control, Power Electronics and Electrical Maintenance. Apart from technical knowledge
and skills, the program also emphasizes the development potential of the individual student in an integrated
and holistic manner through courses in Islamic studies, moral studies, extra-curricular activities, soft skills and entrepreneurship.

Programme aims

Produce Diploma  in Electrical Engineering graduates who will have  knowledge, technical skills , 
communication skills and attitude to adapt  themselves with challenges and  new technologies advancements in
the electrical  and electronics field.

Upon completion of the programme, graduates should be able to:

DIPLOMA IN ELECTRONIC ENGINEERING (COMMUNICATION)

Diploma in Electronic Engineering (Communication) is a subfield of the wide electrical and electronic engineering scope.
This programme is designed with the basics of computer programming, basic communications systems, semiconductor
devices, electrical wiring and computer aided design. Courses of specialization involved in this program are
telephony, optical fibre communications, data communications, wireless communication and microwave devices.
Apart from technical knowledge and skills taught, this programme also emphasizes on the holistic development
of students through supporting courses such as co-curricular activities, soft skills and entrepreneurship.

The Diploma in Electronic Engineering (Communication) graduates in Polytechnics, Ministry of Education Malaysia
will have the knowledge, technical skills, communication skills and attitude to adapt themselves with new
technological advancement and challenges in the field of electronics communication.

DIPLOMA IN ELECTRICAL AND ELECTRONIC ENGINEERING

The Diploma in Electrical and Electronic Engineering is a 3 year full-time programme comprising of six semesters
coursework with one full semester of industrial training built-in. Students will be exposed to a solid foundation in the technical
knowledge and necessary skills, related to the field of electrical and electronic engineering.

The Diploma in Electrical and Electronic Engineering is designed to cover the broad discipline of electrical and electronic
engineering. The broad-based electrical and electronics foundation of which includes electrical and electronics principles,
computer fundamental and programming, computer aided design, communication systems, wiring installation,
power system, electrical machine and programmable logic controller. The knowledge and skills coverage of both fields
would provide graduates with a wider range of employment opportunities.

Apart from the technical knowledge and skills, the programme also emphasizes on the development of the individual potential
in an integrated and holistic manner through courses such as Islamic studies, moral studies, co-curriculum, soft skills and entrepreneurship.
